The Belated Reunion
Mr. Rabbit sat alone by the window in the café, holding a rose meant for his friend, gazing out at the familiar street. He and his old friend had agreed to meet at this very café-just like they did every year.
Time passed slowly. The sunset faded, and the crowds on the street gradually dispersed. Customers in the café came and went, but Mr. Rabbit stayed, quietly waiting. He didn't dare leave, afraid his friend might miss him. As night fell, one by one, the streetlights flickered on.
Eventually, Mr. Rabbit rested his head on his arms and drifted off to sleep. His little ears twitched slightly from time to time, as if still expecting to hear the words, “I'm here.” Then, a faint glow appeared, and a light, translucent figure quietly took the seat across from him. It was the rabbit he had been waiting for-his dear old friend. His friend hadn't broken their promise. He had come, just in a different form-from the other side of life. Sitting silently across from Mr. Rabbit, he watched him gently, as if to say, “I'm sorry I'm late... but I still came.”
This illustration tells not only a story of waiting and loss, but also a heartfelt promise and longing that transcends time and death. In the quiet of the night, a tale of friendship, commitment, and tenderness quietly unfolds.
